Honesty is the best policy …..not always

There lived a woodcutter near a jungle. He earned his livelihood by cutting woods and selling in the nearby town. One day he was cutting a tree near a well in the jungle. Suddenly his axe fell in the well. He was much worried because the axe was the only source of his income. An angel appeared at the scene and asked him the reason for being sad. He told the whole story. The angel asked not to be worried and jumped into the well. He came out with a golden axe in his hand. He asked the woodcutter if that was his axe. The woodcutter replied in negative. The angel jumped again and came up with a silver axe this time. The woodcutter again did not agree. Third time the angel came up with an axe made of iron. The woodcutter shouted that it was his axe. The angel was pleased at his honesty and gave him the other two axes too, as a reward of his honesty.
The story didn’t end here. The woodcutter went back to home, sold the two axes and in a few days he found a good match for himself and got married. As he was young and energetic, they had about 10 children in the next 10 years. As he had stopped working in the jungle after he got the axes, things changed gradually and circumstances again forced him to resume that work again, but with a difference. Now he was working there with all his family members, including his wife.
It suddenly happened one day that his wife fell in the same well while working near it. He was just thinking about it whether it was a good thing or bad that the angel appeared again. The woodcutter mentioned that his wife had fallen in the well. The angel promptly jumped in the well and came out with …………Miss Universe. Seeing this woodcutter was amazed. When the angel asked if she was his wife, the woodcutter readily accepted the offer. The angel was stunned at the answer. He asked the woodcutter what happened to his honesty. He used to be very honest in the past. The woodcutter replied, “This is not the case my dear. If I don’t accept this woman as my wife, you will jump again and will come up with Miss India next time. I would refuse that too and you will bring my wife the third time. At the end, you will hand over all three women to me as a reward of my honesty. Dude! It is already hard for me to make it with one woman, how would I do that with three?”
